Description:
This course provides licensed massage therapists with advanced practical skills in upper extremity supine shiatsu techniques emphasizing the Lung and Gall Bladder meridians, integrated Thai-based movement and rotational techniques within range of motion, targeted assisted stretching protocols (rotator cuff, pectorals, biceps, forearm musculature), and essential joint mobilization techniques for the shoulder, wrist, and thumb. Instruction combines meridian theory, anatomical considerations, safe positioning, joint protection principles, and hands-on supervised practice to enhance clinical precision and therapeutic effectiveness.
Learning Outcomes:
Participants will be able to: Perform shiatsu palm pressure techniques along the Lung meridian of the upper chest. Apply hand shiatsu techniques incorporating range of motion and acupressure on major meridians and distal points beginning and ending in the hands. Perform shiatsu techniques along the Gall Bladder meridian of the head and neck. Execute Thai-based movement, stretching, and rotational techniques for the arms and shoulders within the client’s available range of motion. Facilitate manual assisted stretches for the rotator cuff musculature, pectorals, biceps, and forearm musculature safely and effectively. Demonstrate shoulder posterior and inferior glides, wrist anterior and posterior glides, and thumb flexion/extension glides using proper stabilization and therapist body mechanics.
