Description:
Forward head posture is an extremely common postural compensation pattern exhibited by the majority of the population. It has been associated with tension headaches, decreased breath capacity, shoulder and neck pain, impingement, among other issues. This class defines forward head posture as well as upper crossed syndrome to inform the practitioner how to identify it, what the consequences of it are, and how to help the client resolve this issue. This class will also discuss what proper posture should look like and how it can be restored.
Learning Outcomes:
Students will demonstrate an ability to identify postural flaws from perfect posture. Students will be able to explain the benefits of maintaining good posture as well as the consequences of falling prey to poor posture. Students will be able to adequately perform techniques to decrease the symptoms associated with forward head posture and upper crossed syndrome. Students will be able to demonstrate and perform corrective exercises to return someone to their proper alignment with gravity. Students will be able to demonstrate and perform lengthening techniques to return someone to their proper relationship with gravity.
